As a MEP, he was a member in all this years of the delegation to Latin America and in the last period, a member of the EP Delegation for Relations with Mercosur. He served in different committees as the Foreign Trade in 1994 till 1999, Foreign Affairs and Agriculture.
On May of 2014 he became a Honorary Citizen in the Parliament of the State Bahia. Since January 2015 he is the Honorary Consul of the Federative Republic Brasil for the State Tirol (Austria).
