LEGISLATORS OF BRAZILIAN STATES VISIT EU INSTITUTIONS

image1 (2)The visit, organized by UNALE (National Union of Legislators and State Legislatures), promoted the meeting of the delegation deputies from Paraíba with the MEPs.

The committee formed by the President of UNALE, Dep. Sandro Locutor (ES), Dep. Antonio dos Santos (SE), Dep. Adjuto Afonso (AM), Dep. João Gonçalves (PB), Dep. Ricardo Barbosa (PB), accompanied by Herman Stevens (Director General of UNALE) and Juliana Freitas (Institutional Advisor) arrived in Brussels on Monday (26/10).

AGENDA

The delegation took part of the Conference of European Regional Legislative Assemblies (CALRE), which took place in Milan (22 – 25/10).

On Monday (26/10) was in Brussels where they visit the European institutions and learned about their functioning, and also knew the work and activities of EUBrasil.

On Wednesday, 28, attended the European Parliament’s (EP) plenary session in Strasbourg, meeting with the Delegation for Relations with the Federative Republic of Brazil. The president of UNALE, Deputy Sandro Souza, had the right to speak and spoke quickly on World Governance Internet Forum (IGF), which will be held in João Pessoa 10-13 of November. He also proposed the strengthening of free trade between Brazil, Mercosur and the European Union.

During the meeting, the preparation for the political mission of MEPs to Brazil was made. It which will take place from 2 to 6 November.  They also discussed the relations between the EU and Brazil.

“We want to know a little more of the EP functions as the other institutions based here in Belgium”, Sandro said.
