This week the EUBrasil Association welcomes one more MEP: Dita Charanzová (Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) and met with an agricultural expert delegation from Latin America.
EUBrasil now with 31 members of the European Parliament
Dita Charanzová MEP is the newest member of the EUBrasil Association, which now counts with 31 MEPs. She signed her membership on Monday (15/06) following the Plenary Session in the European Parliament (EP) gathered to discuss the state of negotiations on the EU-Mercosur Association Agreement.
Dita is also a member of the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (DLAT) and substitute in the Committee on International Trade (INTA). “As a member of the Mercosur Delegation and Eurolat, I am following relations with Brazil very closely. I hope that throughout my mandate I will see even more positive cooperation between the EU and Brazil, in particular with regards to grasping trading opportunities”, said Ms Charanzová.
Mercosur-EU negotiations attract the interest of Delegation of Latin American agricultural experts
The EUBrasil Association was invited by the EU Office of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) to present the work of the Association, report on Brazil’s agricultural agenda in Brussels and the EU CELAC summit which took place between 10th and June 11th.
The meeting took place on Monday (15/06) and was part of the delegation’s intensive program in Brussels. The group consisted of 11 experts in agricultural policy from Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Bolivia.
The debate focused on the main challenges for the agricultural and food policy in Latin America and Europe, such as global population growth and food security. Trade relations between the EU and Latin American countries, especially Brazil and the strategic partnership occupied much of the agenda discussed.
