The event is organised by Konrad Adenauer Foundation, in partnership with the Brazilian Parliamentary Group for EU-Brazil Relations, the Delegation of the European Union to Brazil, the University of Brasilia and with the support of EUBrasil and InfoRel.
The theme of the event, titled “XXII Forum Brazil-Europe” to be held on March 17 at Brazil’s National Congress in Brasilia, will be “Brazil and the European Union – Partners in World Politics.”
In addition to EUBrasil’s support to the event, the association’s president Luigi Gambardella will participate in one of the debates. The members of the European Parliament Francisco Assis and Paulo Rangel will address the audience too.
Among other names confirmed to participate in the event are the congressman Eduardo Barbosa, chair of the Brazil-EU Friendship Group at the National Congress, Ana Paula Zacarias, head of the EU Delegation to Brazil, and Cristina Russo, Director-General of European Commission’s DG Research and Innovation.
A wide range of subjects to be looked at by a number of panels during the event will include economy and environment, virtual democracy, technology, education, infrastructure and trade relations.

Trade and Investment
According to the Eurostat, the total amount of direct investments from EU in Brazil increased from €70 billion in 2004 to €250 billion in 2014. This amount represents 45% of the total foreign investment in Brazil. In 2013, the EU exported €40 billion to Brazil. The total of imports of Brazilian products by EU reached €33,1 billion in the same period.
