Matthijs van Miltenburg MEP joins EUBrasil

P1110304 “We can encourage growth and social inclusion on both sides of the Atlantic and EUBrasil can help us”

Matthijs van Miltenburg MEP is the newest member of the EUBrasil association, which has now 29 MEPs. He signed his membership on Wednesday (19/11) during a visit to EUBrasil’s offices, in Brussels. The MEP spent a couple of hours at the association, when he talked about his expectations for the relationship between Brazil and European Union.

Member of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, the Dutch MEP is also a member of the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly and of the Delegation for relations with Mercosur and the Delegation for relations with Brazil.

The MEP believes that there are many things to be learned by both sides in the areas of Economic and Social Development. He says that Europe is a very good example of how to boost growth in poor regions through local initiatives. “And Brazil, as a federal State, can help us understanding how to improve the integration of countries with different profiles. São Paulo is very different from Paraná and even more different from Rio Grande do Sul, for example. I think Brazil’s key feature is that people with different horizons make Brazil what it is today”, says Miltenburg.

The MEP says to be interested in facilitating the trade relations through parliamentary actions and with the assistance of governments on both sides. “We can encourage growth and social inclusion on both sides of the Atlantic and EUBrasil can help us. I am very pleased to join the association and work the next five years with it, providing full assistance so Europe and Brazil can grow, create more jobs and economic prosperity”, he added.
