EU-Mercosur agreement would increase trade by € 9 billion a year

Valor Econômico

Brazilian financial daily Valor Econômico reports on estimates prepared by EUBrasil about gains that could be brought by a free trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union. A free trade agreement between EU and Mercosur could increase trade between the two blocs by 9 billion euros a year, says the headline.

It says that this could be followed by enhanced investment in both directions, according to EUBrasil. The newspaper quotes Luigi Gambardella, president of EUBrasil as saying that private sector in Brazil as well as in Europe considers that an agreement is crucial to strengthen trade and investments between the two regions. It also highlights that during his visit to Brazil this week, Gambardella brings a message that European companies want to explore ways to support negotiations.
